Sustaining Community Health

45 Years of Environmental Stewardship and Innovation

The Fonda-Fultonville Joint Wastewater Treatment Facility (FFJWWTF) has been a cornerstone of environmental management and community health for the villages of Fonda and Fultonville since 1971. Here’s a snapshot of what the facility achieves:

Capacity and Coverage: Capable of treating up to 1.2 million gallons of domestic sanitary sewage per day, FFJWWTF supports the villages of Fonda and Fultonville, as well as parts of the Towns of Glen and Mohawk.

Operational Excellence: The facility operates round the clock, managed by certified professionals including a chief operator, an assistant, and administrative support, ensuring consistent compliance and performance.

Governance and Oversight: Directed by the Fonda-Fultonville Joint Wastewater Sewer Board, governance is shared between both villages with regular meetings to discuss and decide on operational strategies and community impact.

Regulatory Compliance: Adheres to rigorous standards under the New York State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (SPDES), authorized by the EPA to manage wastewater and stormwater discharges in line with the Clean Water Act, ensuring environmental protection and sustainability.

Community and Environmental Impact: Beyond mere compliance, the facility is a model of sustainable wastewater management, significantly contributing to the health and well-being of the local population and ecosystems.

This facility exemplifies how local utilities can effectively manage environmental challenges while fostering community well-being and ecological balance.
